Principles
Process - We are process consultants. We meet you where you are...we help you decide where you want to go... and we guide you to that new destination. We do not work from a fixed agenda. We don't provide cookie-cutter solutions. We understand, and honor, the uniqueness of each client's situation.
Intention - One of the initial phases of most of our work with clients is to help them become intentional about the growth they want to achieve. Clarity of intentions is like a compass. It keeps you on course, even when you destination is sometimes shrouded in fog.
Nexus - A nexus is the place where two disparate element come together. It's the place in a venn diagram where two circles overlap. We work at the nexus of people and the organizations where they work and live. This is a "both/and" situation, not an "either/or" one. At times, we may focus more attention on the organization while at other times, we focus more on the individuals. But we strive never to lose sight of the importance of both.
Growth - There's a lot of talk today about the need for organizational change. In our minds, change is better approached as process of growth. And that growth can be qualitative as well as quantitative. Some organizations strive to grow quantitatively; others grow in richness of qualities. We honor both types of growth. In fact, we know that quantitative growth of a lasting sort can rarely occur without qualitative growth first.
Wonder - We bring the power of wonder to the work that we do. We help clients to ask, "What if...?" It takes wonder to envision a future of possibilities. Focusing on what's wrong or what doesn't work only takes you to incremental improvement. Asking, "I wonder if..." leads an organization and its people towards a vibrant future where people and organizations grow together.
Systems - Every organization is a system of interrelated and interdependent parts. You cannot "fix" one part of a system without affecting the whole. Therefore, we eschew quick fixes. We strive to help our clients to optimize their systems as a whole in all of the work we do. This often calls for a radical adjustment to their perceptions of cause and effect. Our experience tells us that when something is sub-par, it is rarely the result of a person or people's bad behavior. It's a system at work. Change the system and we change the outcome...while allowing people to blossom.
Flourish - We strive in every engagement to help our clients create environment where people flourish. This includes the organization's leaders, its employees, residents or customers. We know that lasting organizational growth only occurs where people grow as individuals. People flourish when they bring the whole of themselves to what they do at work. Organization subsequently thrive when their people do.
Learning - How do we create an environment where people flourish? One way is thought opportunities for continuous learning. Just as fertilizer provides the impetus for a plant to grow, continuous learning is the fertilizer that feeds growth of the people and organization.
